Various construction processes use concrete as a primary raw material to cast foundations, to erect structures and even to build underground structures underground. Concrete is a strong and durable material that provides a quality and comfortable product for work, but even so, it may be exposed to various environmental hazards such as rainwater or groundwater penetration.
In order to strengthen the concrete’s durability, it is recommended to use quality concrete additives that will give a stronger and more durable structure. Concrete additives can be easily applied to exterior structures and walls, where this application method is called positive application. Internal or subterranean structures need a negative application method, with the concrete additives being injected with a unique technique deep into the concrete castings.
What is crystalline sealant?
Crystalline sealing allows for a thorough and high quality sealing of concrete and castings, with sealing being done from the inside of the building against water penetration and moisture coming from the outside. The materials used in this sealing method are liquid or gel-like, so their penetration through the cast concrete slots is more efficient and better.
When materials reach the depth of concrete and bind to water or moisture present in the foundry, they begin to react by expanding or solidifying – so that the grooves in the abdomen are completely sealed and do not allow free passage of water and moisture into the structure.
The process of reacting the water-injected materials creates a kind of small crystalline crystals in the concrete slots, so this sealing method is called crystalline sealing.
What is the advantage of crystalline sealing?
The most obvious advantage of a crystalline sealing method is that the sealing in the concrete does not prevent it from breathing, and does not impair its life – but the opposite is true. The crystals formed in the concrete slit block the passage of liquid and water molecules, and not air molecules that are essential for the quality and durability of the concrete casting in which the crystalline sealant was applied.
The formation of the crystals in the concrete takes a long time, so that the concrete remains completely sealed and insulated from water and moisture penetration which can damage the structure and create a condition of moss and moisture. With the crystalline sealant, the aging and wear of concrete structures can be prevented, thanks to the optimal sealing of salts present in water and can cause external and visual damage to the structure such as paint peeling, salt crystallization, corrosion and more.
Negative injection molding process
Crystalline waterproofing is primarily intended for application to underground structures or to the interior of a building, when there is no way to reach its outer side – as in the case of underground parking lots or tunnels. The sealing process is carried out using a unique injection technique using professional machines, which allow injection of liquid sealants at varying pressures.
Before any such sealing process, the part in the structure that needs sealing must be thoroughly and professionally examined, and the type and quality of concrete evaluated for the type of materials to be injected into the grooves.
